This 28 days or longer circuit provides a unique cross section experience of both Upper Dolpo. With more than 130 monasteries in the area the route passes through a predominantly Buddhist area. The famous Shey Gompa of Peter Manthiessen’s The Leopard fame also falls in this region. There is a gompa in every settlement with some of the oldest monasteries in the Himalayan region of Saldang, Dho, Chharka and Bhijer. Some of these gompas are more than 700 years old. On the villages en route Dolpo Heritage circuit the co-existence and harmony of both Hindu and Buddhist religious practices form an intrinsic part of the daily life of the people.

Day 03: By Plane: Kathmandu – Nepalgunj and transfer to Hotel

Day 05: Dunai – Tarakot (6h-2500m)
Day 06: Tarakot – Chauke (6h-3000m)
Day 07: Chauki – Tarap Khola (7h-3200m)

Day 09: Acclimatization day and visit to Tarap village.
