Dhaulagiri Expedition (8167m)
Dhaulagiri Expedition (8167m) (White Mountain). Dhaulagiri rises over (7000m) above the Kali Gandaki and is about 30km long and considered the most appealing peak among the eight thousand meters. The seventh highest mountain in the world lies in the northwest of Myagdi district in Nepal. Dhaulagiri has five summit peaks: Dhaulagiri I is (8167m), Dhaulagiri II is (7751m), Dhaulagiri III is (7715m), Dhaulagiri IV (7661m) .Dhaulagiri V (7618m). Normally the Dhaulagiri is climbed from the Northeast Ridge route. The four camps will be set up above base camp (4750m). The advanced base camp (5300m) are Camp one (5900m), Camp two (6400m), Camp three (7200m), and Camp IV (7500m).
When everything is getting prepared at the base camp our climbing guide will give essential acclimatization training. Climbing to Camp I 5450m with the first section of the ridge moderately technical limestone and snow climb. The starting section on the moraine takes about 2;30 hours and requires fixing rope for almost (200m) at a slope of 35-40º. Camp II lies above the snowy terrace and a few mixed climbing sections. Camp I to camp II is safer which takes about three hours. The climb starts with the dense snow climb for about two hours,Camp III the long distance of (1000m) with complete fixed rope sloppy ascend, It takes about five/six hours of ice and snow on a 35-45º slope. One of the main threats of this section is avalanches due to the snow-covered Icey layer. Summit day starting very early about midnight to reach the summit by 7;30 AM in about 35-50º slope. It is a time-consuming climb due to the fragmented fixed rope setups, (500m) just above camp III and (500m) above the serac, and again (150m) below the ridge. It takes about 4/5 hours to return to Camp III after the summit with an extra 3/4 hours to get to camp II for an night stay.
