Solo trekkers are banned in Nepal

Nepal banned solo and independent trekkers from April 1, 2023.

According to Nepal Tourism Board(NTB),all the trekkers visiting Nepal after March 31,2023,must hire a licensed holder trekking  guide and they must obtain a Trekking Information Management System(TIMS).

The price obtaining a TIMS card is also doubled to 2,000 Nepalese rupees (USD 15/16) for most international visitors.According to NTB,the Decision was made to create employment opportunity in tourism sector and to provide security for trekkers.
